A flyer has been enclosed for all children in Year 1, Reception and Early Years inviting any parents who would like to take part in an 11 week Family Maths Course. This is to help parents understand how the basic maths skills are developed in young children. Please do not be afraid if you don`t have any confidence in maths, just come along and learn alongside your child. Last year`s course was very successful and the feedback from parents involved was that they not only found it helpful but also very enjoyable. Unfortunately due to space we will not be able to provide a crèche. There are limited places and priority will have to be given to parents of Year 1 children.
We are arranging an information meeting for parents of children in EYFS, KS1, and Y3 to find out how phonics is taught in school. The meeting will be held twice on Wednesday 17th September, once at 2pm – 3pm and will be repeated at 6:30pm – 7:30pm to enable as many parents as possible to attend. We are sorry but we are not able to provide crèche facilities for children at either of these meetings.
Plea to Year 6 Parents
Mr Willmott has asked if any Year 6 parents can donate any ‘Old Shirts’ for the children to wear during Art. The old ones unfortunately are past their best and are no longer protecting the children`s clothes.
The PTA meeting is on Tuesday 23rd September at 6.30pm in the staff room. New members and volunteers are always greatly appreciated, and needed to organise various events throughout the year to raise money for school funds. Please come along and join in.

Please come and join me for a chat, cuppa and some cake at Outwood Memorial Hall on Friday 12th September 1pm -2pm, to discuss local Children’s Centre services.
As you may know there is a question mark over the future of some of our Children’s Centre services here in the Wakefield District. Even in difficult times, I am keen to see services for local children and parents supported and improved. But I really want to know what you which services are important for you and your family, which services did you use the most and what changes would improve things.
Please come along and join me and other local parents to chat about this important issue and please do feel free to bring the kids along!
