Murton Park

22nd April 2016

Dear Parent(s) / Carer(s)

In connection with our curriculum work, I am hoping to take the children to Murton Park on Tuesday 5th July 2016.  A visit of this kind greatly enhances the children’s enjoyment of their work and increases their overall knowledge.

Due to ever-increasing costs, the voluntary contribution necessary for each child for this visit will be £20.00.

The breakdown is as follows:

Cost of Coach: £6.75

Admission to Murton Park: £13.00

Insurance: £0.50

Total:   £20.00

The full voluntary contribution will be necessary for the visit to go ahead. We are writing, therefore, to ask whether you would be prepared to pay this amount of money as a voluntary contribution.  I realise this is an expensive visit, but it is a very exciting day for the children.  Listed below are some of the activities that the children may take part in during the visit:

Dressing up as Vikings, experiencing life as a Viking in a Dark Age house, guard duty, thatching and daubing, making a Viking pot, undertaking household tasks.

The children will need to bring a packed lunch and with the aim of the day being to live like Vikings, it will need to be as authentic as possible, ie: brown bread roll, cold cooked meat, pasty – meat or vegetarian, cheese, biscuits (not chocolate), fruit (apples, pears, plums or grapes), dried fruit. No packets of crisps, chocolate bars, fizzy drinks. Dilute sugar-free squash or water is provided.

The coach will leave school at approximately 9:15am and should be back at school no later than 4:30pm.

Please return the reply slip below no later than Friday 20th May.

Yours sincerely
