Children in Year 4 have the opportunity to take part in their first school residential trip. This trip is one where we strongly encourage all children to take part. It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about coastal habitats and also the geographical coastal features. The children will be able to study the area and contrast this with their study of Alverthorpe. Each year, the children who go on our residential trips really enjoy them. Most importantly there is much more to learn about building up confidence, staying away with friends and becoming more independent.
We have a provisional booking at Boggle Hole, Whitby for the above dates. We are extremely grateful to the Governors who have agreed to subsidise the trip by paying for transport to and from the venue and trips over the 3 day period. This means that the charge per child will be a very reasonable £95.00. To help spread the cost of the payment the school operates a payment plan which allows parents to pay for the trip in instalments, weekly or monthly to suit them.
The cost includes travel, accommodation, all meals and a full programme of day and evening activities. A fossil hunt, fire pit story- telling, a pirate party and entry into the Sea Life Centre and Flamborough Lighthouse. In addition the children will be allowed to bring up to £10 spending money which they may want to spend at the Sea Life Centre or on trip memorabilia etc. There will be 5-6 staff members (including myself) taking part and supervising the trip.
As we are required to confirm numbers to the centre, to book your child’s place please return the attached slip with your non- refundable deposit of £20.00 by Monday 4th July 2016. Payment can be made by cash or cheque payable to ‘WMDC’ to the school office. If this causes you any financial difficulty, please speak (in complete confidence) to Mrs McClean.
Further details regarding venue, kit required, travel arrangements, medical needs etc will be advised at a meeting to be held next term. However if in the meantime you would like any further details, please contact the school office
The remaining balance will be required by Friday 27th January 2017. If you would like to start a savings plan now, please send money into the school office in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and ‘Boggle Hole`. You will then be sent a savings card to keep track of any payments made.
